Waterproofing, Brick Replacement, Window Lintel Replacement & Coping Stone Restoration
This project involved comprehensive façade and building-envelope restoration to address deteriorated masonry, water infiltration, damaged brickwork, window lintels, and coping stone conditions. Work was performed throughout the exterior elevations using suspended scaffolding, rooftop access, and controlled work areas to safely access and restore difficult-to-reach façade sections.
The restoration included the careful removal of deteriorated, cracked, and damaged brick masonry, followed by installation of new matching brick to maintain the existing architectural appearance. Areas of localized masonry deterioration were opened up to sound substrate, cleaned, prepared, and rebuilt using Spec-Mix masonry mortar, with attention to maintaining proper coursing, joint profiles, and alignment with the existing façade.
Window lintel restoration and replacement was performed at deteriorated openings where masonry movement, cracking, and corrosion-related conditions were identified. Damaged masonry surrounding the openings was removed as required, existing lintel conditions were addressed, and replacement/repair work was completed before rebuilding the surrounding brickwork and restoring the window heads.
The project also included extensive waterproofing and moisture-intrusion prevention at vulnerable façade locations, including masonry joints, transitions, coping areas, window openings, and repaired sections. Sika waterproofing and sealant products were utilized as part of the restoration system to help protect repaired areas against water penetration and improve the long-term performance of the building envelope.
Coping stone restoration included removal and repair of deteriorated sections, preparation of supporting surfaces, resetting or replacing damaged coping where required, and sealing critical joints and transitions. Particular attention was given to maintaining positive water drainage and properly protecting the top of the masonry walls from weather exposure.
The completed restoration provided a renewed and weather-resistant façade while preserving the building’s existing brick architecture and improving protection against water infiltration, masonry deterioration, freeze-thaw damage, and further deterioration around window and coping assemblies.
