ADA Compliance Concrete Ramp
This project involved the construction of a new ADA-compliant concrete accessibility ramp designed to provide safe, durable, and convenient access to the building entrance. The work included demolition and removal of the existing deteriorated concrete, preparation of the subgrade, installation of reinforcing steel, and construction of the new reinforced concrete ramp system.
The ramp was formed to establish the proper accessible slope, transitions, and elevations, while integrating the new concrete work with the existing building entrances, steps, and sidewalk. Heavy-duty formwork was installed to maintain the required geometry and provide clean, consistent edges throughout the ramp.
Scope of work
- 01Demolition and removal of existing deteriorated concrete and unsuitable material.
- 02Excavation and preparation of the ramp area and subgrade.
- 03Installation and placement of rebar reinforcement to strengthen the new concrete structure.
- 04Installation of metal mesh reinforcement throughout the concrete ramp.
- 05Construction of properly supported wood formwork to establish the ramp profile, edges, landings, and elevations.
- 06Placement of 4,000 PSI high-strength concrete for a durable, long-lasting surface.
- 07Concrete placement, consolidation, leveling, screeding, and finishing for a smooth, uniform walking surface.
- 08Finishing and transitions at building entrances and adjoining sidewalk areas.
- 09Installation of stainless-steel handrails and guardrails, securely anchored to the concrete structure.
- 10Final surface finishing, cleanup, and preparation of the ramp for pedestrian use.
